Are all the nursing programs that difficult to get into?

I am a pre-nursing student and I have been in community college doing my prerequisites for the BSN. Well I am starting my 5th semester in January. I am a prior LVN and had attended a nursing school in LA for about 18 mos., took the boards, passed and practiced for 8 years. I was all the way up to the last classes I needed before applying to the nursing program and the university. I was in Anatomy & Physiology and the instructor flat out told me that I didn't have the right stuff for the nursing program. The nursing program where I live only accepts students with B's and up. I am who struggles with algebra, chemistry, A&P, so I was told I didn't have any chance of being accepted to the nursing program. Well, there is only one nursing program where I live and I am in debt on my student loans and out a couple of years of my life. I was advised to change my major to something else except I don't want to do anything else. Are all the nursing programs that difficult to get into? I just don't know which way to go now, I only went back to college in the first place to get my BSN, I am not interested in any other field. I don't know what I should do.

There are other schools. And yes, many of them accept and graduate students who don't have As and Bs in all of their pre-reqs. The kind of smarts that allow you to do well in the pre-reqs are not necessarily the kind of smarts you need to succeed as a nurse. If you lived in my area I would be able to suggest a school for you. I don't know anything about the schools in your area. Why don't you ask your advisor or one of your instructors? Sometimes they know what else is out there.

Can you try a LVN to RN (associates degree) program. Then you can go on to get your BSN.

Could you find a ln lpn-rn program? Even online? I would pick someone who is a nurse whovhas c's in their sciences than someone with all A's in science youre a freaking nurse. Could you shop around for other schools????

I'm in your state.

My *opinion* is that some of the private schools have lower GPA requirements than the community and State universities.

Plus some private schools offer the prereqs and I've heard and experienced that the prereqs through private schools are not as difficult, as the private schools have a financial interest in your success.

Hope this doesn't start a big debate on the merits of private vs public nursing schools. I think there are many paths to becoming a nurse.

Some are more expensive, some are longer, some are more or less academically rigorous.

Thank you for your replies and recommendations to me, I really appreciate it. I have just barely started to inquire at other schools. I have a 3.113 GPA so far even with the algebra and science classes. I will go ahead and start checking other schools. I could use some suggestions. I am about 15 credits away from an Associate Degree.
