I don't know about NYC, but in TX a lot of nursing homes hire LVNs. But in hospitals here, they mostly hire RNs. I don't think it is a dying field though. Because most opportunities for LVNs are in nursing homes, and nursing homes will always need people to work in them.
Central PA here. Most of the hospitals in my area are going for magnet status. They phased out LPNs a few years ago. LPNs are needed in long term care and home care.
In my corner of the world LPN's mostly work in SNF or PDN. It used to be that a hospital in this area would replace any leaving LPN with an RN, but the most local hospital recently offered any remaining LPN's "tech" positions, if they weren't receptive to that idea, they were let go.

I've been hearing that LPN is a dying field here in NYC. is this really true? Are employers only hiring RNs now? Can LPNs get jobs at hospitals?
