Are there any Head Start Nurses out there?

Hi,

I am trying to find other nurses who work for Head Start. I started with them on April 10th. I absolutely LOVE it!! :balloons: :biggringi

I love working with the 3 to 5 y/o's. I had a discussion with a 4 y/o Tuesday about a worm!! He had one in his hand and dropped it. Another little boy picked it up and threw it over the fence. The 4 y/o cried and I explained to him, that if he had kept it, it would have died. Good arguement right? WRONG!! This little guy was going to take the worm home and put it in an aquarium with dirt in it. Then he was going to feed the worm so it would have babies! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

So are there any other Nurses on here that work for Head Start?

Thanks!!

Hi, I did a search for HS to see if others had experience there as well. I do some PT work with HS in NC and have for 3 yrs now. It is a lot of fun. My first yr was spent preping for a federal review which was an experience. Are you still with the program?

During clinicals for community health nursing our class spent two weeks at a head start site. We performed the anual physicals on the kids. Was a blast. Doing hearing screenings on four year olds is a challenge.

The head start here does not have full time nurses. They mostly rely on volunteers. Anywho sorry I dont have more info for you. Take care.

I just started working for Head Start in Oct 08, love every minute of it! But having a lot of questions about many things and how things are done. The nurse I replace had already left before I started so I am learning as I go! Where are the experienced head start nurses, I have so many questions!

I have been working with a HS program in NC for a little over 3 years now. It is not FT but I have learned a lot & went through federal review the first year. I will try to help out if I can. Holly
