Hi:
I'm getting ready to take NCLEX Tuesday and have a question for you. In my Pharm book it lists aPTT normal of 40sec. c heparin therapy it should be 60-80 sec. However, in RN Notes Clinical pocket guide aPTT normal is listed as 21-35 sec. In my Manual of Med-Surg Nursing Care it says to check the INR. What is the SOC for heparin therapy?
Thanks

It's going to vary from place to place, and resource to resource. But I doubt you would get a question that specific on NCLEX. The INR value has nothing to do with heparin therapy. It's used to follow and adjust Coumadin dosing.
