applying to TX BON

any recent grads have input on how long the wait is to get an ATT? I will be a "graduate" in early November and hoping to test as soon as I can. First I will need to wait on my school (Excelsior) to send me a transcript so i can complete my application. I know I just have to wait on the state ultimately, though.

I just went through the process and took my NCLEX on Wednesday, and I passed!!! :) The process took 3 months. I do not recommend waiting until after graduation to apply. I recently moved to Texas from Illinois. In Illinois the application process begins after graduation. It takes less than a week to get an ATT in Illinois once all of the paperwork is submitted, so I thought the same would be true in Texas. It is not!!!! I recommend beginning the application process at the beginning of your last semester. You can send in your initial application prior to graduation along with your $139 fee. It took the BON almost 2 months to approve my background check. I have absolutely no criminal history. Once all of my information was in the system it took 3 weeks for me to get my ATT. Once I finally received my ATT I was able to test in less than a week. Start early!!! The last document you will need is your Affidavit of Graduation. Try to have everything in and approved prior to graduation. It took the BON less than a week to post my Affidavit. Once everything is in it takes about 3 weeks for the BON to generate your ATT.

It took me about a month to get my ATT. I had issues with the fingerprints...because I was out of state they made me send in the traditional ink fingerprints instead of the electronic ones. The first set was deemed "unreadable" (and that took 2 weeks) so I had to send another set in which took another 2 weeks.

When I passed the NCLEX, it took them 4 days to post my license no. on their website.

Cool, cool. I am corresponding with EC to make sure I have all the steps right. I have already sent in my app. to the TX BON. Once I finish all my requirements then I can request my graduation affidavit from EC to the BON, from what I understand. Then when I pay the graduation fee, (have no idea how much that is) I will be eligible for Boards... Right??

The only thing that you left out was your background check, like turnforthenurseRN I was also an out of state applicant. I had to do the fingerprint card as well. My first set was readable, but, for me the background check and waiting for my ATT after the BON even acknowledged that all of my info was received and approved was the longest part of my process.

Yup, once you have all of those things + the background check, the BON will send your ATT. And don't forget the Jurisprudence exam. You should be able to get your ATT but TX will not issue your license until you successfully pass the Jurisprudence exam.

I didn't register to take my test by paying Pearson Vue until about 2 weeks after graduation and got my ATT in less than 2 weeks. It was the longest 2 weeks! I just graduated in August, so that may have been a less busy time for them. All my other stuff was in, I just hadn't paid the testing company yet.

I just moved here from Michigan last month. I graduated in May. I just paid my fees to pearson vue and BON and I have an appointment tomorrow to get my fingerprints... I am dying waiting to get my ATT. I know how you feel! Good luck to you - I hope your ATT comes soon!
