So I've been a nurse for about 4 years now and have worked as a floater as well as a Stroke Stepdown RN, I have been charge capable for the last 3 years. I have my BSN and my PCCN certification. I have been trying desperately to get hired in the L&D department of my hospital. I applied twice and both times did not even get a phone call from the RN Recruiter.
Now, there's a good chance I'm relocating due to my husband's job so I started searching for jobs where we are relocating to. I applied to an L&D position at a decent hospital in that area and not even 24 hours later got an immediate "no" email from their recruitment team. The qualifications listed on their website just said "1 year RN experience, BSN preferred" so I absolutely meet those qualifications.
To say I'm getting disheartened is an understatement and it's a total shot to my confidence. My dream is to do the CNM program at Frontier University so I wanted to apply to L&D. Has anyone else had trouble getting hired in this specialty, even when you are definitely qualified? And if you know, is there anything special these recruiters are looking for that I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for any insight! ?
