applying for CA nclex

Steppybay, has there anyone (you know) been successful in going back to school to make up for the deficiencies? I've looked around here in the forum and so far haven't found anyone. It's kind of disheartening, really. I don't think I want to take the ADN degree because I really want to be an RN, but it looks like it's a long shot now what with everything happening.

No, I don't know of anyone personally and like you said, it doesn't appear anyone has been reported knowing of anyone actually enrolled in any of the schools to make up the deficient courses. T

There was one or two posters that said their friend or wife got in some college, but when I post back to them to get more information, that's their last posting to this forum, so I'm not sure if they were just boasting or it never really happened or due to the tough competition amongst everyone here, they are not posting until they actually have been enrolled.

Oh, you can still become an RN with the 2 year ADN degree, but know that it's much tougher to actually land the coveted RN job as many ADN's are losing out to those with the higher BSN degree. You will see that many ADN'ers are being passed on with no interviews or call backs being granted to them and are learning to go into the ADN-RN or ADN-BSN route (total of 4 years) to get the possible interview and hopefully a job. Many are saying just go for the BSN degree if you're a CA student. But check out the cost of the very high tuition cost, in some cases, if you're an international student, the cost is even higher than a CA resident.

If you do go back to school it will take 2 years, 3 years if you haven't completed the prerequisites. A majority of the people who were denied in taking the nclex in california have either 1. applied at another state 2. took the NCLEX-PN route. Where they can get an LVN license, work and if they would like to pursue a RN career they can take an LVN-RN program. Though LVN's are somewhat being phased out and a majority work in a nursing home.

If one does manage to apply for the NCLEX in a different state and become an RN is he/she eligible to enroll in a RN-BSN program even though they've already attained their BSN degree in the Philippines. If they do complete this program are they able to endorse their license to other states without facing the concurrency issues?

I haven't done a lot of research but I've read that it's more on theories, leadership, management.

kabayan my analyst told me when I got denied that I can take LVN-RN route then no need to take the BSN prgram because we had that as our degree already from the Philippines..She just told me to complete the deficiency and pass the NCLEX-RN exam...:)no need to enroll for any other class to become a BSN holder.

Hi Kuyafern, I'm going to be moving to Washington State with my husband (I should have been more specific than US). I need to address the gaps in education in order to get through the CGFNS certification programme. I guess there's nothing for it but to ring all the nursing colleges in Washington.
