Applied to Nursing school!

Is it competitive entry or is there a wait list? Did you sit the HESI entrance test yet? Most colleges I know of will look at a combination of your pre-req GPA, your HESI scores, and other factors such as your background check etc. I can't speak exactly for your college because every establishment is different and sets their own requirements...did you have any type of advisement before you applied? The advisors should be able to give you a good idea as to what their particular college is looking for. I'm surprised if they haven't offered this to you. Is it a for-profit program or are you going via community college??

As an example, the college I am looking at has a mandatory meeting to go over the program expectations, course content, costs etc. They then strongly encourage you to meet with an advisor before you apply, after you apply, and every few months thereafter.

Keep in mind the program I am applying for is competitive rather than a wait list, but they encouraged a GPA of 3.5 and above, and HESI scores in the 90% and above. They also took into account previous degrees etc.

I very much doubt your school GPA will have much impact; you've proven your capabilities with you pre-req GPA!

We took a placement exam, but it was actually the first year they offered the exam, so we were told that the test will matter, but not as much as it will it the future. More or less they are just starting to gather information on how to run the test. Also it is a for profit, private school. I believe there is a wait list, not 100% sure.

I'm most certainly not an expert in these areas, but there seem to be quite a few unanswered questions hanging around that your college should have made you aware of. Is there someone you can talk to?

As a side note, have you considered community college? Much, much cheaper and exactly the same degree!

Somehow I knew this was a for-profit. The reason for this assumption is that many people who attend for-profits are sort of self-conscious about it considering their track records of charging high tuition, low graduation and retention rates and histories of lawsuits and deception in the recruitment of students.

I would not worry about getting accepted, they take just about anybody with a high school diploma, GED and no felonies.

Any preadmission test is usually just a deceptive formality. The real object of their desire is your Federally backed Title IV loan money and Pell grants. Up to 80-90% of the students attending these sub-par schools are loaned up this way and with graduation rates so low most are left paying off expensive loans for 10 or 20 years without a degree. Most certainly go to a community college and save yourself a lot of time, money and grief as other posters have advised.

But don't believe me go to (collegescorecard.ed.gov) look up these schools and you will see what I mean. Also conduct a thorough net search to get the full picture.
