Application process

The readiness portion consists of 4 sections, math, english, an essay and a questionnaire. I think you're allowed to take up to 2 hours on each section, but for most people, you only need 2 to 2 1/2 hours total. (And just so you know, you don't complete the readiness assessment when you fill out the application, your enrollment counselor will send you a link for that after your application is received.) The math and english aren't too bad, and for the essay they mainly want to see if you can put sentences together coherently. The questionnaire is to see if online and self motivated learning is a good fit for you. As far as previous degrees, for Statistics to count it has to be within the past 5 years, other than that, they're pretty good about taking past courses. I have an AS in Nursing and an AA from 13 years ago and they covered all of the non-nursing classs except for Statistics, Biochemistry (I had only taken Chem I and II, not Biochem) and Nutrition which they include in the core classes.

I was trying to decide between the RN-BSN and RN-MSN also, but I've decided on the MSN track, I start March 1st. You do get your BSN along the way, so I figured if I want to stop after that I can, but if I want to continue I've saved myself a few classes. So far everyone I've dealt with from my enrollment counselor, financial aid, IT and the Bursar's office have been super helpful. Best of luck to you!

I just applied for the RN to BSN and took the readiness assessment 2 weeks ago. You also don't have to take it all at once, which is nice. I did the math first then later in the day did the English portion and the questionnaire. I saved the essay for the next morning. You can do them all at once if you choose too.

They are currently reviewing my transcripts now, so I am anxious to find out what I have to take. I took statistics 2 1/2 years ago so I should be good with that hopefully.

I would check with my mentor again. I'm in the RN-BSN now, only because you do not receive your BSN until you finish your MSN. You can't stop after the BSN if enrolled in the RN-MSN.

You do get your BSN once the requirements are satisfied for the BSN at the end of the term in which the BSN requirements were satisfied. But, I wouldn't go into the RN-MSN unless you are absolutely sure you want to finish the entire program because there are slightly different requirements between your BSN in the RN-BSN and the BSN portion of the RN-MSN. Does that make sense?
