2017 application cycle

Hello all,

i just thought i would would start a thread for those awaiting acceptance from programs for fall 2017. I have already been accepted to Simmons (MSN) . I also applied to ECU (DNP), UNC (MSN) , and Duke (MSN). I applied for Family Nurse Practitioner at each.

Where did you apply? what is your top choice?

I received an email mid morning today telling me a decision has been made. I was accepted & I applied for the PMHNP program for UNC.

Tinamayrn that's a big decision! Follow your gut instinct :) but it's amazing you have choices!

Has anyone been rejected or waitlisted yet? I have not received anything.

I applied to UAB's MSN program. Has anyone heard anything from UAB yet?

The wait is killing me too! My last name starts with M and I applied December 14th. I wonder if they are going by alpha order, application date, or some other pattern...

I'm worried that no news is bad news. Especially since I have not heard anyone say they have been rejected or waitlisted from chapel hill. Was anyone accepted today?

Hopefully you won't have to be in suspense for too much longer. I don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to their method. My completed application wasn't submitted until the day before the due date although I had started submitting documents as early as November. My last name starts with "J." Best wishes!

i was once reading where schools will send out acceptances to their "top" candidates and then send out more acceptances as people decline spots before sending out waitlist/rejection letters. If they send out 75 acceptances for 50 spots thinking that at least 25 people will decline their spot for another school they could realistically put themselves in a pickle so they send out small waves of acceptance letters at a time. Hopefully this is all they're doing and you'll get your answer soon!

Hey, I applied for the program. Have not heard back anything yet.

I was on the waiting list last year for UNC FNP program..I too have not heard anything this year...since I know last year they were unable to notify me via email of my placement on the wait list last year (the system didn't support that..had to get a letter) I went ahead and called and asked what was up and if this was happening again. I was told that this year they were not giving notifications all at once...she didn't say why..but yes...some folks had received notice but they were still in the process of making final decisions on other applicants. She said Mon or Tues be on the lookout for an email...and written notice will follow....TIRED OF WAITING!!! but patience is needed...hope this helps others in the same boat!

I applied to UNC's MSN FNP program and haven't heard back either. I have been anxiously waiting for a response for the past two days after reading that some others had been notified of their admittance. I called the SON yesterday, and the woman who answered said I should expect to hear back by the end of the month..Too bad everyone can't just receive email notification on the same day.
