Is anyone out there attempting to get into a nursing program in the Charlotte, NC area? I have finally decided to follow my dream but I am undecided about which route I should go. I have made a decision to try to satisfy most of the pre-reqs that most of the programs require since I don't know which one I will be accepted to. I am leaning towards Mercy School of Nursing since their pass rates for the past five years have been so good. But that is still just a diploma program which may have some affect on my employability. Anyone else out there struggling with which route to go. I do know that I do not want to go to UNCC.

I have applied to Carolinas College of Health Science, Cabbarrus College of Health Science, and Mercy. I have not heard back from them yet. I have taken most of the pre-reqs. I have finished all of my math, and my sciences. I just need to take 1 more English, and 2 electives. I have a good friend that graduated from Mercy a couple of years ago. She had no problems getting a job. Good luck to you!
I also had applied to Queens. They told me I will hear something by the end of march to early april. When is the notification time bracket at the schools you applied to. I will keep u updated if I hear anything!
Thanks.

I was going to get my BSN from UNCC but decided it would be better to get my associates then do the RN-BSN completion program through UNCC. I want to go to Mercy School of Nursing but have just received notification that I am on their wait list for the Fall semester. In the meantime I am working on prerequisites. Good luck to you!

I was also nervous about going to (well hoping to go to LOL) a diploma program, but all my research has shown that hospitals will not turn you down because of that reason alone. As a matter of fact in some places that will give you a bit of a leg up over the competition in being hired.
So I'm going to apply to the diploma program first (in Durham) while also taking pre-reqs in case that falls through. So I'll be focusing on Charlotte after that. I know I will need a BSN eventually (I want to work for the VA) but right now I have decided getting my RN first is more important.
I'm trying to stay positive and not succumb to much worrying- after all what good does that do? :-)
