Anyone go to SDSU?

Published

Anyone go to San Diego State University's nursing program or has gone to SDSU's nursing program?

I'm thinking about applying to their School of Nursing program.

If you have any info about what you think of their program I would appreciate your help.

How competitive it is to get in? I know they do it on a point system so how low is too low on the average accepted application?

Is the dropout rate extremly high?

Are the nursing courses so hard it is almost undoable?

I noticed they have a high NCLEX pass rate but do they get rid of most of their students to keep up those scores?

I plan on going to the campus to check them out during the summer or fall so I would like to have a good idea the right kind of questions to ask in order to get important info from them.

I have searched their websites and got some info from them but you know I feel they are trying to sell me their school so of course they don't give you the dirt.

Any help ya'll could give me is much appreciated.

thanks :)

I have looked into their program and attended their orientation session. They are known to be tough, but they are also one of the best schools in Southern California for a BSN. I know that last Fall, the cutoff of points was 63 (out of a maximum of 87). I feel that I am very competitive for their program, and they really seem to want to work with you to help you gain admission. The undergrad advisor's name is Dr. Jane Rapps - she is very cool and completely helpful. Here is a link to their website: http://nursing.sdsu.edu/ and more helpful than that is a link to their brochure: http://nursing.sdsu.edu/BROCHURE_UG.pdf, which outlines the point system and what is required. I have found that they are very forthcoming with their expectations and information. I'm not sure at all about their dropout rate, but I do know that Dr. Rapps would give it to you straight if you asked. :)

Good Luck!
