Any advice? Please???

Hi everyone! I'm currently in an ADN program and choosing to take an LPN program this summer. The assisted living I currently work at offered me an LPN position this September, great experience and money while finishing up my RN! Here's the thing... Last spring I didn't pass my peds/ob so I was forced to be off a year and take it this spring. I passed with an A but now it's been over a year since I've had med surg... I'm a tad worried. My LPN course ends August 1st and I'm hoping to have my boards done by the end of that month. Is this feasible? I've started some nclex questions but I'm just so focused on this class I'm worried two weeks to study for boards, let alone lacking med surg for a year, will totally mess me up/set me up to fail. Any advice??

It's absolutely feasible. I think the key in this situation is to truly prepare starting NOW. Get Saunders, get Kaplan, get the LaCharity PDA book and get to studying. Make sure you know your content and your question answering strategies. I know school is keeping you busy but try to be disciplined about doing a certain number of questions (anywhere from 150-265) per day and be disciplined about it. It won't be easy but if you do enough preparation now you will be ready ASAP. Good luck!

I couldn't start to prepare for boards till after I actually graduated. Too many finals to worry about. Everything worked out. Took the NCLEX 1 month after I graduated and passed! Did Kaplan live review course for a week and studied hardcore for the other 3 weeks.
