Hello, I have another question. Can anyone give me the heads up on grading. For example what is Div 1 grade 2 and what sort of salery is that.
Do I understand right that that is a registered nurse and then you have points according to how many years you have worked.
Grrrrrrrrrr so confused !!

Division 1 = Registered Nurse
Division 2 = Enrolled Nurse
Grading depends on years of experience and/or other postgraduate qualifications.

For example: I am an Enrolled nurse, but I have my endorsement (I can give out most but not all medications), so my employer has hired me as a Division 2, level 2 EEN, whereas another worker who does NOT have her endorsement, is only a Division 2, level 1 EEN.
Yes, t'is confusing. I also heard that even when I finally get to Division 2, level 5, the pay rate difference is only about 30cents ... hardly enough to really fuss over eh?
So, if you are a registered nurse in the Uk, obviously giving meds, do you still have to get the endorsement thingy ?
I have an interview via telephone on Sun pm for a job in Melbourne, the interview is through a friend that I worked with in London. I sent my cv and they responded with an interview on Sunday with the director of nursing of the hospital and the NUM in A&e. Is this normal for Aussie interviews ??
RNs don't really need to undergo a short course on Medication Endorsement. It is specifically for Enrolled Nurses who want to upgrade their classification.

From what I have read elsewhere on Australian interviews what you are having is normal
All nurses, RN's and EEN's have to do a medication competency when they start work with a new employer. That is, lots of little questions that involve the calculations. You get to do it mostly in your own time, you can liaise with other staff about it, you can use a calculator and in some aged care homes, you can take the exam home with you and do it quietly there.
And as for hiring people from OS .. yes, telephone interviews are quite the norm.
Cheers & Goodluck!

Hi
being interviewed for a basic grade position by a DON is a bit heavy. As a Manager I did a lot of overseas telephone interviews and usually used a Clinical Nurse if I was interviewing for RNs or ENs. Now as a DON I leave the interviews to my managers. I don't want to frighten off prospective nursing staff!! (Not that I'm that scary)
