Salute to all nurses!
Now, I just started this road into health care and I have heard so much about ap1 ... well, how hard it is and everything? I get to start it this semester(fall) and out of curiosity is there a maximum attempts. Can I still get accepted incase I attempted twice or wherever?
Don't get me wrong,i will work hard on it but I just wanna know, I should blow it since I only have that class anyway and am so determined but just wanna know ... then again would anybody advise taking chem 1 and ap 1 at the same time?? pls advise. thx

Don't stress over A/P.
It's a lot of memorization, but it's a fun class if you enjoy the human body.
I bought both flash cards and coloring books and tried the flash cards once.
The coloring book, I made copies and color coded everything I needed to know for the test. I'd even color over the word in the key the same color I colored the item so I could reference it easily. And I made them very bright colors vs. realistic. I have a photographic memory so I could see what I colored in my mind's eye when I took the exams.
Do any practic questions for that chapter in your text book and use any study guides they give you.
Take good notes during lecture.
I had a combined course, lecture aspect was online, while lab was in class. I would do the reading, ask for clarification on things at lab then take that information to my study group, and I ended up with an A.
This worked so well for me that when I moved and my husband packed my A/P book making it to where I lost an entire chapter of study/reading, I had enough of a basis of the material without studying at all that I manage a C on that exam. I was mad about it b/c the physio is what got me my C, not the anatomy part, but I recognized when I couldn't find which box my school stuff was packed in that I just had to accept that grade. It was still passing though sans studying. The rest of my grades were As, even when I took them in the middle of a blinding migraine (my vision goes first when I get migraines).
Yes it's a lot of work but not something to fear. If you go into it with the attitude of "I am happy to be learning something" you will do well.

Retaking classes generally depends on the school. I mean, I think every school lets you retake, but whether or not they will replace a first-attempt low grade with a second-attempt high grade is up to each school individually. Some average the grades and some replace. You'll have to check with the nursing school you are looking into.
Honestly A&P is nothing to worry over. Yes, it is hard, but if you are dedicated and really care, putting plenty of effort into studying/quizzes/tests, then you will do fine.
Talk to your professor when you have problems. My prof helped me a lot. I would go to her office after a test to look over questions I got wrong and I would ask for further explanations of concepts I didn't fully understand in class.
Also, it's really easy to get caught up in the general "vibe" on campus about particular teachers and particular classes. So many people around me whined about how our prof must hate us because of how hard the tests were and how if you just got a C you'd be doing something amazing in that class, but I tried my hardest not to let that talk get to me. I focused on that class more than any others that semester, and it paid off.

Nursing school is unlike any other kind of studying you have ever experienced. Remember when you took, oh, American History, and as soon as you finished your final you could forget it because you'd never use it again? Well, A&P 1 is nothing like that. You will need to remember everything you learn in anatomy, physiology, med calculations, pharmacology, and a host of other things not only from one semester to the next but from one year to the next and forever after as you work as a nurse. So when you study it, keep that in mind.
:yeah:
