Am i hired?

Nurses General Nursing

Hi, im just new here in the country and i applied for a nursing job and fortunatly i was interviewed and right away i was given a job offer but its contingent, the DON told me since i dont have nursing experience they have to train me for 3-6 months until theyre confident with me then they can give me a fullytime sched.

They let me see the area and gave me some paper work to do, i also did my medical test in concentra and may fingerprinting, after passing all the papers, i didnt hear any call from them for my sched, i tried calling the concern people for my schedule but theres no response yet. So im still confuse if im hired or i still have to wait for their call.

I hope someone can clear this up. Thank you

You are not officially hired until you receive the official job offer letter.

You must receive an official job offer letter and then you begin most jobs on an orientation basis, where they can let you go at will if it isn't a good fit or you can leave if it isn't what you think is best for you :)

Thank you, i passed papers to HR about my rate and background check too. Tomorrow im scheduled for an orientation. Hopefully the job letter offer will be given tomorrow.

Ask for it when you get in for your "orientation," by saying, "I am glad to be here, but I have not received the offer of employment with hours, pay, and benefits. Who should I ask for a copy before we start?" it might just be an oversight...but you do NOT have a job until you have it in writing.
