Air Force

Question?

I spoke to the recruiter in my state (Virginia). He informed me that the Air Force is not "hiring" nurses for this fiscal years. They apparently have met their quota. Just want to know if anyone else had been given the same information.

Pretty sure that is accurate. There is another thread on here about the October boards... almost no one got hired because there weren't really any spots.

there seems to be basically a hiring freeze for nurses at the moment. if you want to get into the air force, it would be best to look into next fiscal year.

Hi Luvbug,

I just sent you a friend request trying to figure out how to reach you by message. I have a few questions for you. You are a new nurse that got a overseas duty station for first choice how did you do it????

luck of the draw i suppose. i honestly don't know how i managed to get an overseas assignment my first time around. when i filled out my packet i was allowed to list top 5 conus and top 5 oconus locations and i got my #2 oconus base. the only thing that i can possibly think of is the fact that i had been to europe 5 times before i had filled out my application, but to be honest, i don't think that had any bearing. so i guess i was just lucky. : ) i know 3 other new nurses who were at cot with me who are going to england too. i know a few going to alaska and some going to japan too.
