The last that I heard was boards for the Jan 2011 selections in March was a total wash no one was selected... Possible last boards for 2011 is June... Iowa Rn r u in or r u still waiting for boards?? Limac
  3. Thanks 2cross... Well Good Luck to you!!! I will b looking to hear when u get your COT date!:)
  4. 2cross, So you went to boards Nov 2010?? What region/state do u reside if u dont mind me asking, because when I originally started my paperwork July 2010, I was told by my recruiter boards were in October 2010 then moved up to September ( which my packet was not complete for) my recruiter did not mention a Nov board??? You are fully qualified right? Im wondering if there are different boards for different areas of the US????
  5. Your first year sounds really exciting, How long is your deployment and are you going to Afghanistan? I hope you are able to keep posting I would like to read more about your journey. Thanks Mid for all the info. Cant wait to be part of "The Blue"!!!
  6. That's sounds so cool, wr r you stationed if you don't mind me asking and you mentioned that you are more mobile than most is this by choice? Is there a list of classes that you can sign up for and they just let you go??? Going to range sounds cool also, are you assigned a weapon to keep??
  7. Thanks 2cross, I viewed the thread on timelines it's keeping me hopeful. Are you in yet?
  8. Midinphx, Thanks! I see you have 14 yrs exp did you come in as a Captain?? Is AF Nursing like civi nursing 12 hr shifts, can you choose days or nights? Do you perform other AF duties or are you primarily an ICU nurse? Sorry for million ??? Just curious!
  9. Hello to all my fellow RNs looking to go up for boards in the Air Force for this upcoming 2011/2012. I need to vent for a moment. I just spoke with my recruiter who I have been working with on my package since July 2010, I was originally hoping for October 2010 boards but was told boards moved up to September 2010. I then was told by my recruiter I will have plenty of time to process for January 2011 board but was just informed that I needed a waiver ( that was not mentioned before) and now I have to wait until June 2011 boards. This means if accepted I will not go to COT until 2012. This ENTIRE process has been so grueling. Can anyone else out there relate??? I don't understand why the recruiters don't have a simple check list that tells you EVERYTHING you need ahead of time or inform you what indicators in your package will require a waiver. I apologize in advance for the long spill, but is anyone else out there in the same boat or on the same timeline. It has been quite helpful to hear everyone's story. It has helped me have some hope and made me realize I'm not the only one!
  10. Hi Luvbug, I just sent you a friend request trying to figure out how to reach you by message. I have a few questions for you. You are a new nurse that got a overseas duty station for first choice how did you do it???? limac
  11. Hi midinphx, I have been reading your blog for a while. It is good to see that you are still blogging and giving us hopefuls good info even though you have completed your process and now a AF Nurse.:anpom: I am looking to process as an fully qualified nurse as well. Can you recap for me a little, what board (month/yr) did you sit for and how long did it take to find out that you were selected? Once selected how long before you were commissioned and at what rank? I see that you have 14 years nursing exp! Now that you are working as an AF nurse is it the same as civi nursing? 12 hr shifts 3/wk?? What is it like now that you are in? Are you working in ICU? I know soo many questions, just looking foward to getting to the next step! Anyone else wanting to share please do! thanks' limac
  12. Hello PATNICRN, I am also an exper RN/BSN with prior service. I completed my application and looking to go for January 2011 board. I have read so much info on this blog. It is good to hear that everyone seems to be getting the same info. It seems that there are 2 boards one for exp RNs and one for new grads NTP. The next board for exp qualified is January 2011. (I heard this board was switched with NTP board from March 2011). I completed my app in August 10, went to MEPS for my physical in November 2010 (3mo :smackingf) and did my interview December 2010. The next available COT dates are May 31, July, Aug 2011. If selected Im hoping to go in July 2011. If you are serious about returning to service dont delay in completing your paperwork, it seems that there is quite a backlog of nurses waiting to go. Im hearing that AF is looking for exp RNs and prior service is a plus. Hope this helps! Were you prior AF? Keep posting and GOOD LUCK!!!
