I was recently accepted to both a FNP DNP program and an AGNP (primary care) DNP program. I was initially heart set on the AGNP program. Its a top program in my current city and is financially manageable ($30K total). I recently spoke with an NP i work with and she was adamant that FNP was the way I HAD to go because it is more marketable and I would have a hard time finding a job in primary care with my AGNP. I don't have experience working with kids and wouldn't say my passion lies within pediatrics. The FNP program is considerably more expensive ($75K total). I would like opinions on if the FNP is worth the extra money? Or if i will be just as marketable as a AGNP.
Thanks!

FNP you'll, for the most part, be limited to dr's offices, clinics, etc. With acnp you can do inpatient and outpatient both

She is considering the AGNP not the ACNP.
Don't get caught up in thinking the FNP is so, super marketable. You'll find plenty of work as an AGNP. If you never want to work with kids then you're fine.
