Agenda for Change

I just been rading a thread on the general Nursing forum around pay scales and was about to reply around "thank god for the whitley council"

However it all likely to change over her in the Uk with the introduction of the Agenda for change (when agreed by the unions).

I recently assesed my own post against the criteria and my manager did the same and I was amazed that I my banding would likely to be a lot lower than I thought.

I don't have one of the jobs which are given as a example but my present grading is the same as a senior nurse in the hospital, but the grading we did as a test, potentially means I made be paid less.

Has any body else tried this, or what are your thoughts.

Agenda for Change.............. dont even get me started!! those of us employed in general practice are not included...!!

i am a 'D' grade only been qualified for 12 months work in a hospital and was reassured that my wages would not drop. To be honest i havent checked but i will. We should not have to take home less pay due to the agenda for change. As all nurses know we dont get paid enough as is. I know some nurses who said if their pay drops they will leave the profession.The government say the change will be for the better. The question i ask myself is 'will it be for the better and what do nurses really think about the change?'

Is there any one on here whose hospital is on the trial for becoming a foundation hospital? How do they find it?

If nothing else make sure that your job description reflects all your responsibilities, and agree it with your manager asap! Everyone is supposed to transfer over on 1st Oct. so don't delay.

no your wages wont drop- there is a formula but basically your pay is guaranteed to stay at the present level. if deemed to be working to a lower level you will not recieve any pay rises.. its a little more complicated than that but you shouldnt lose any pay. they reckon 8% will be graded lower. all fun and games
