Good morning everyone! I hope this is not too deep for this chat room, but I need some advice. I was a police officer and then a detective who handled all of the crimes against children at our agency. This is my passion, but I had to move to a different state to help with my aging parents. The state I moved to has an age restriction on accepting transferring certified LE, so I could not go back. I have now decided to get a 2nd degree BSN, to hopefully take all of my previous work experience and certifications and apply it to a new career path of nursing, specifically forensic nursing. Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom for me in this endeavor. I would greatly appreciate it!

Go for it! This is my second career, and I'm glad I made the change. Due to the financial resources that were available to me, I went the ASN route (shorter, cheaper).

Hello @Ddillard67 and welcome to allnurses.
We moved your thread to the Pre-Nursing forum for the best response.
Read through the Forensic Nursing forum. You will find some topics there that will interest you. Here are two articles in that forum that discuss, How Do I Become a Forensic Nurse? and, The Forensic Nurse.
Good luck with your Nursing career plans.
And ... we hope you enjoy allnurses!!
