any advice?

Hello. I'm 43, single and like so many people lately, having to start a new career due to job out sourcing. Can anyone please advise, in their opinion, what would be the fastest route to a nursing career. I have an Associates Degree from eons ago. Would need some pre-reqs for any route I decide on. I live in Oakland County. Also, although it isn't nursing, does anyone have any comments on sonography or nuclear med tech? My head is spinning trying to figure it all out. :uhoh3: Thanks so much and good luck to all !!

Welcome!

From what I've seen, the quickest way would actually be getting your BSN. The ADN schools all have YEARS for waiting lists (3-5 from what I'm told). My school did not have a waiting list but is expensive. Have to kind of take the bad with the good. I graduated from GVSU with my BSN April of 2005. Good luck to you!

I got accepted in the ADN program @ HFCC with a 1.5 year wait. Like the aboce response there is wait at many community colleges. Check into WSU, Oakland U, Madonna for BSN. At HFCC, there are pre-req's - Math, BIO, CHEM, A & P I & II, Psych, Dev. Psych, Pharmacology and 2 English along with general ed requirements. To get on the wait list u have to finish the above classes and take a NET (nursing entrance test). For further info look at the nursing program on hfcc.edu But since u have an associates degree u may meet some of these already. There is a radiography program as well. Check out each school website and then schedule an appt. with a counselor. :welcome: Hope this helps and good luck!:balloons:

My school does not have a waiting list for nursing. You must finish the pre req's, take the NET and get a criminal background check, references and application. It is pretty simple. They accept 120 students twice a year. I will include their link. As for the sonography programs I know there are some at Baker in Auburn Hills, and at Cambridge in Troy. Good luck.

Do not worry about waiting lists etc.... do your best on pre-requisites for asd in Nursing. Apply to nursing school as soon as you have pre-req's completed. Go from there. I had a 4.0 average and was told waiting list is 3 years, well within two weeks time that tured into 2 years wait. Then two weeks after that dropped to one year. Then one week later received invitation to shortned RN program, and that started in a month. I applied and received the position and graduated in 18 months with degree. So do not listen to what everyone says about waiting list. My only advise is apply to all nursing schools in your area. Good Luck!!
