Advice please

I am in the process of applying to several anesthesia schools. I have worked in the Neonatal ICU for 5 years and the PICU for 1 year as a float. I just interviewed today in and adult Medical/Cardiac ICU.

During the interview, the director brought up a good point of staying there for at least two years to get a good solid experience. I'm seriously thinking about this. I talked to my husband though and he said, well if you can get in without it, why stay?

I say to stay because it would make me a well rounded candidate but most importantly, the majority of the cases you are going to do are on big people and it would make me much more comfortable with "big people" comorbidities, meds, etc.

What do you think?
