advice please!

Hi! It's my first time here posting a new thread, so I hope it goes fine.

I'm a student from Singapore who's interested in Nursing, and I thought I'd want to work in a hospital setting before I really decide. I figured there would hardly be any chances for internships or long-term hospital attachments, and because my schedules cannot make it since I'm only available on weekends.

Do you guys think volunteering in a nursing home would give me sufficient exposure to what nursing would be like? Or any suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks so much, in advance! :)

Could you get a part time job as a nursing assistant? Most hospitals NEED weekend workers because most dont want weekends. This would allow you to see things and ask questions. Nursing home atmosphere is totally different than hospital. I would go for a med/surg floor. You will be exposed to more.

(to be a nursing assistant, here in Canada, the person has to be licensed, after writing exams, following all the courses - don't know what's required in your location)

might get hired as a personal care aid, special care aid, nurse's aid

weekends and evenings would probably appreciate your interest

volunteer or part-time job

thanks so much for your suggestions! (: i'll keep them in mind and try my best, hopefully i do get to volunteer or work in a hospital eventually.
