Hi
Just wandering if anyone can help. Ive been studying for my NCLEX and we are hoping to move from UK to FLORIDA nov 2011. I'm confused as to weather to use an agency, i've got a lady calling me on wednesday from Nurses 4 america. Just wandering if anyone has used them before or know of any reputable agencies.
Thanks in advance

What visa are you looking at coming over with? Currently nurses are affected by retrogression and looking at the moment of a lot longer time that 2011 if applying for a GC. If H1b then you need to meet H1b requirements which is experience and a Bachelors
Thanks for reply. Were hoping to get I140 visa from an employer. Found an agency called 'Nurses 4 America' they charge £375 and say they take care of everything for you from jobs, visas, flights etc. We are back in florida in Jan and thinking of opening a bank account while were there as were hoping to by a house in April which we can rent out and then move into when we get there.
Most people seem to be going with OGP, do you know if anyone has ever used Nurses 4 america? Im a bit apprehensive as I doont want any delays.
I140 is immigrant visa then you are looking at several years wait for one. Current processing time is 2003 and there is a prediction of possible 2005 by the end of the year but not a guarantee that this will happen. There are many many already in the queue ahead of you so expect a long delay (longer than Nov 2011) and if things move quicker it would be a bonus.
ok thanks. Im assuming you have never heard of that agency then? They told me 18 months. Where do you find the info for waiting times of these visas?
Thanks

Agencies can tell you anything but visa waiting times are here and nurses generally are EB3 and you need to look under rest of the world if your country of birth is not stated. Also just to let you know I was in the queue and had a PD of Aug 2006 and if not in Canada and loving it I would still be in the UK waiting.
Here is where you can find immigrant visa bulletins US visa bulletin
I dont understand what these priority dates are to be honest maybe you could tell me more? Also im really upset that this agency has told me 18 months if they know its going to be far longer. One good thing though is that the contract you sign is with the hospital you will be working at rather than the agency themselves.
PD is priority date and is the date that your I140 is accepted by US immigration. Takes approx 4-12 months to get approved (depends on which center your application is sent to and you can not pick) and then you join the long queue of waiting for a visa as your file then goes to the NVC (national visa center) and they will only get in touch with you once your PD is near and a visa will be allocated to you
Check this link out http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html
Also add hospitals can also back out after a contract is signed, this happened to me otherwise I would have been in the US in 2004 but hospital backed out just as I got my first approval and I had to start all over again

I will confirm that hospitals in the USA will back out of a contract. Visa wait time at this moment is very long.
