Nurses generally don't work in homeless or women's shelters. Direct care staff and social workers typically do hence why you are struggling to find job information as a soon to be graduate practical nurse.
Addiction shelters employ mostly licensed and clinical social workers, licensed alcohol/drug counsellors and if medication is given pharmacists & RNs since LPNs cannot work independently. Larger clinics that have inpatient services or dispense methadone or suboxone may have LPNs working under the direction of an RN supervisor

Hi guys! I am graduating with my LPN in Michigan in just a few short weeks. (Exciting!) I am really interested in working with children in homeless shelters or women &a children shelter, etc. I have thought about addiction specialty clinics as well. I have been doing my own research and can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I am hoping someone who reads this forum can point me in the right direction to find these places in south east Michigan that may hire or need nurses. Again- I'm not even sure if these types of places hire nurses, specifically LPNS but any advice or help would be awesome! Thanks in advance! :)
