Hi. I am taking the trauma nurse core course (tncc) in november, and i was wondering what it is like, and whats the big things to really focus on. Also, I was wondering if you get extra pay with this certification, or any certifications. Any info would help. Thanks:wink2:

hey,
I took TNCC a couple of years ago, it's a good course. Our hospital doesn't offer any extra pay, but at least they paid for us to take it.
My biggest suggestion would be to make sure you VOICE everything you're doing when you are graded on your head-to-toe trauma assessments. For example, I lost a point just because I said "draw and send labwork," but did not specify to "type and cross the patient." Just little things like that. Other than that, just pay attention to detail.
You'll enjoy it. :)

I just took this & my advice is read your book. You will have a written test & a skill station......know the TNP......when you get to class your instructor should go over everything, & you will get a chance to practice.....I was nervous, but it was not really that bad.....just a lot of info! Good Luck ....you stil have some time to read & let it sink in.....take advantage you will be glad you did!

It's a good course and teaches the basics of trauma care and to treat these patients accordingly.
