Hi. I am taking the trauma nurse core course (tncc) in november, and i was wondering what it is like, and whats the big things to really focus on. Also, I was wondering if you get extra pay with this certification, or any certifications. Any info would help. Thanks:wink2:

I think you should go straight to the ER. I am a new grad for 8 months on a cardiac telemetry floor. You get great experience, and it is very fast pace. I started of with 5 pts, discharged all 5 pts and received 5 pts. Some with heparin and cardizem drips, and also cardiac cath pts with sheaths to pull. So if they wont hire you in the ER ( which I know they will with your experience) then go to cardiac telemetry. You learn to read EKGs, and I also got a chance to see on the monitor a dying heart, but I want the ER too so i am going to transfer when my year is up in JAN. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi. I am a new grad, working on a cardiac telemetry floor for 8 months, and I want to transfer to the ER. I always wanted to go to the ER, but when I applied, the managers recommend getting a year of nursing experience. I want to transfer in Jan2009, which would be my year. I am ACLS certified, and enrolled to take a TNCC in Nov. Is there anything else I should obtain before going to the ER? Also, I want to work in a level 1 trauma center. I am currently a tele nurse for 7 months, and once i get my year experience, i want to go to the er. i am acls certified, and was wondering is there anything else i should obtain before going to the er. also, i wanted to know what it is like in a level one trauma center er? I work on a fast pace telemetry floor where i start off with 5 pts, discharge all 5 and get 5 new pts, and also have to pull sheaths, and deal with non telemetry pts. Do you think telemetry experience will help in the er? any info will help. Thanks

oh. concept 5 was the hardest test. i believe it was psch. and the clinical was hard. just make sure u know those assessments like the back of your hand, and learn the stations.

i graduated from excesior in oct 2007. I would recommend taking the practice exams for all the test. Sometimes the same questions on the practice exams, or on the real test. I just read the required chapters, and any disease that had a lot of info under its section, i payed attention to the most because if felt it had to be important if they had more than one paragraph about it.
