What type of MSN specialty do you want? Some of the online RN-MSN programs only offer non-clinical MSN degrees (education, administration, etc).
If you are looking for a NP, CNS, CNM, or CRNA focus, then the RN-BSN then MSN might be a better option for you. While there are RN-MSNs that prepare for advanced practice roles, these tend not to be online programs.
I noticed that as I am looking at the different schools and programs. I am leaning more toward a more "clinical" MSN, like CNS or NP, but definitely want to stay hands-on care as opposed to teaching or mgmt. I thought that since I'm pretty certain I want to go on, tht I might save some time and money by just finding a RN-MSN program. I am looking at UAB and USI, but the thought of requesting transcripts, what they might accept in transfer, etc. is making me put it off! I have to do something, my next class starts in a few weeks at my current RN-BSN program, and really do not want to take classes that I may not have to.....
