Hello.
I am graduating in May with my ADN. I have applied to over 20 graduate nurse positions with no luck so far. I am considering just taking my NCLEX and beginning my BSN and then retrying to apply for jobs once I have completed it. Will this help in my search? I really needed something for July but I don’t feel very hopeful for an interview at this point. I have also thought about applying to DaVita to just get some kind of experience under my belt. Has anyone had any experience as a dialysis nurse?
Thanks

Have you tried nursing homes/LTC/SNF sava has a GN program or google ones in your area and pop up its better to apply in person (just my opinion) I know it’s not ideal but experience is experience I have my BSN although I have gotten a few interviews so far I have still applied to my community nursing homes just in case and the good thing is they normally don’t require contracts and you can continue to apply to GN positions because most are open to nurses with less than a year of experience. I hope I helped and good luck!

Companies look at how long you have been licensed as well as your degree. Most ADN to BSN programs require you to have your NCLEX passed, so waiting to take that won't help you. It is better to have nursing experience than not. Most of the residency programs will only take nurses in their first year of nursing. If you wait until you have your BSN, you will be at a disadvantage. I would try commuting to a rural hospital to work before I would take a position as a new grad in dialysis due to the pigeon-holing that is common when all your experience is too specialized. Look in places like Longview, Sherman, Wichita Falls and other smaller communities. Also consider the Texas/Mexico border towns.
