ADD and nursing

I was reading another thread and this peaked my interest. I think others may benefit from the information regarding this topic. Are there other nurses out there with ADD/ADHD? What kinds of things do you find helpful in dealing with the disorder? Do you take meds, exercise, or use diet to help. I think this is a great topic and would enjoy reading the experiences of others.

Thanks

Hi

I am a new grad nurse who has ADD. I take Strattera. It helps alot. As far as work I have to write everything down. I mean everything. I check meds at least three times. I am still new though. I got through 12 weeks of orientation. I work on a busy General Peds floor. Hope this helps!:)

Best ER nurse I ever heard of was ADD and she specifically did NOT take her meds before a shift because that way she could attend to multiple crises at the same time as needed.
