ACT score good enough to get in school?

Hello everyone, I am a freshman in college and I'm a nursing major. I've completed my first semester and I received an A in a&P, which is a big deal (according to my adviser). I'm applying to the nursing program after I complete college algebra and a&p 2. My question is about my ACT score, I have a 20 composite which is below the average score of 21. My school works on a point scale, and you only get a 2 points for having a 20 on the ACT. I have taken it again and I got another 20. I'm really concerned that my score will hinder my admission to the program. I asked my adviser if I had a chance of getting in with a 20, and she told me a few people with 19's got in last time. I was just curious about what everyone else had on their act.... or if y'all think I have a chance of getting in.

Also, I plan on having A's in a&p 2 and college algebra, even if it kills me.

    Yes. You have a chance. The ACT is 2 points. It's done and time to move on. Focus on the other areas where you can get the max points.

    It definitely depends on the program. To get into our program "early", high school GPA, ACT score ( minimum 25) , and reading ACT score(mine was a 33) were factors. To get in "late" only college GPA and pre-req GPA were considered.

    If it's only worth 2 points don't sweat it. Focus on what you can change :)

    I wouldn't stress about your ACT score. If you feel that you could improve or get a higher score then go ahead and retake it but if you think you've did your best then that's ok, too. I would focus more on your overall score and what you need to be competitive for your program's admissions. Work on getting that A in A&P2 and study for your TEAS/HESI :)

    We also use a point based scale for our admissions and I want to say that a 20 ACT score was the minimum needed needed to get any points (27+ was given the maximum points).

    I know someone that got into our program with a 17 on her ACT. She graduated, and has been an RN for over a year now. :)
