ACLS ONLINE?

Hi everyone, hope we are all in good health.:)

Please i will like to know if anyone has done or heard of someone who took the acls class online?

I have been offered a job, and it is required, if i do it online i will meet my deadline ,if i go to a class(physical) i will not meet up. please i need advice on this. My thought is, it's better to see it being done and practice too to have a feel of what you are doing.

Thank you everyone

if you do the AHA ACLS class online you still have to do the competencies. The online portion is didactic only. You would need to arrange with someone to use the specialized manikin or arrange for an instructor to validate your skills.

I will say that the computer does not allow for any errors or lapses in judgment or extra time. It is very concise.

At my facility we allow students to take the online portion, which gives them 60-90 days (I forget which) to do part II (competency). We consider the student current if they do the Part I, even if Part II is after the date we wanted them to present a card. Talk to the Educator to see if there are alternatives.

Make sure it's the AHA you take the class from, as above. I took ACLS and PALS renewals from an independant company and my employer wouldn't accept them. I was out over $700!

So, let me get this straight........ the hospital you have been given an offer for requires you have ACLS before being hired because they will not train you after you are hired becasue that costs money...right? It is feceral

Wow....has it really gotten that bad out there???? it is federal law that if a company requires extra training to maintain a position the company must pay for that training. So, now they are getting around it by not hiring you until you have it........shameful.

That's a really crummy thing to do......I have taken it on line and it was fine but I had taken it many times before and it was a recert.

Hello everyone

So is it fair to say taking ACLS and PALS in class is safer way to go with? I'm also trying to get those courses but feeling a bit shaky doing them online although it's much easier.
