ACE program at SCSU

I applied to the program and I'm pretty sure this is the first year the program will be up and running.

Did you apply? I am hoping to hear back either way next week. There are a lot of pre and co-requisites for the program though so I'm trying to work out how I would complete them all.

No, i did not apply for this year but I am wanting to apply for next year. It did not really say on the website that this was the first year for the ACE program. I emailed the program coordinator to see what the tuition would be for an out of stater and she said that there was no differnce between in and out of state. This is nice for me. If you get in, please keep me posted.

I think I would have to take a few prereq's also. It does not state the actual prereq's on the website, just the course numbers. Well good luck to you.

The ACE program is pretty intense. It starts off slow (well, as slow as any standard nursing program is) but it gets exponentially more demanding as the months pass. It's a HUGE commitment and you need to have excellent organizational/time-management skills. Be prepared to basically have no life for the duration of the program. You might be able to work part time during the first few months but definitely not past the first semester. This is a really tough program but it will be (hopefully) worth it since it's 12 months start to finish.

I am currently taking pre-reqs for the ACE program. Hoping that I am accepted. Have a way to go. I'm curious as to what the schedule is like? For example, what hours through out the day. Is is Mon-Fri. or wknds too? Is there a significant amount of time needed to study away from school? Any advice or ideas would be very appreciated! Thanks!

I am currently in the ACE program. It is rapid and inexpensive for a BSN, but that is where the benefits end in my opinion. Perhaps my prior academic experience left me expecting a higher quality of education.

The bottom line is that you show up, jump through the hoops, and earn a BSN. If I never see another PowerPoint presentation again after this program ends, that would be fine with me! Few of the professors actually lecture on the material and stress the important points. Exam questions are ridiculous and are not designed to accurately test your knowledge on the subject matter.

You may NOT miss classes - not because they help you with the material (you basically must teach much of it to yourself), but because attendance is mandatory.

There are a few of us who work part-time, but not the students with spouses or children.

Be prepared to give up your social life for 12 months. The program is 53 credits with some long (12-hour) clinicals.
