Accelerated/ Second Degree BSN's

UBC has one (in Vancouver). I am pretty sure there are also programs in Calgary at U of Calgary and Edmonton at U of A. I think they are all 2 year programs, but could be wrong.

The U of Manitoba used to have one, but it's been discontinued. Don't let their website or any of their other written material like the 2004-2005 Registration Guide or Calendar mislead you because it says they do. ARG!

(they also say that the entrance requirements for the 2005-2006 term will be different from the current ones, but no one can tell you WHAT will be different! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! How the heck is anyone supposed to plan?! Geez!)

****Does anyone know if any of the universities listed above offer the second degree accelerated program by distance learning? Maybe I should just look them up....

I just got accepted to the U of Calgary & U of Alberta accelerated/after degree programs and I am looking for some background on either. Has anyone on the forum attended (or know someone who attended) either of these? What were the pros/cons of the Accel./AD programs? Beyond that what are the pros/cons of the nursing programs in general at these two schools?

Thanks for any info you can give me. Can't wait to start the programs in Sept. Looking forward to the career change.

I can't give you any specifics but I have noticed that there have been posts on this site that are not favourable towards the U of A. I know nothing first hand though.

I have also heard MUCH better word of mouth on Calgary's nursing program as opposed to Edmonton's.

I am in the 3-year accelerated BSN at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

They also offer a 2-year accelerated BSN, if you already have a BSc degree (or the equivalent amount of university science classes).

The University of New Brunswick has an advanced standing program that will let you get your degree in two and a half years (but it ends up being three once you do the prerequisites)
