Hello all,
I'm very interested in accelerated BSN programs that offer the pre reqs as part of the program, so you essentially apply before taking the pre reqs, spend your first semester doing the pre reqs, and then move on to the nursing courses and clinicals.
NYU has this option, but NYU is also really expensive. I read on here in another thread that Pace University used to offer this option but recently discontinued it.
I'd be really grateful if anyone who knew of any other programs like this anywhere in the country could help me out.
Thanks so much! :)

i think yale does also (and of course is really expensive). probably every program like this is pretty expensive. your best bet financially is probably to do the pre-reqs at community college & get them transferred in (shouldn't be too hard).

Check out Marymount University in Arlington, VA. I graduated December 2009 with a BSN from their accelerated program, and I initially started there doing my prerequisites in the Spring (A&P 1&2 and Microbiology). They allow you to enrol in the program even if you don't have the prerequisites, so that you can take the prerequisites before starting the core nursing classes.

I graduated from Pace's second degree program eons ago.. back when they were few and far between
I'm not sure why you're set on getting the pre-req's in the program.
I would suggest getting your pre-req's a the most inexpensive local school you can... it will save you money.
good luck

It is a lot more expensive to go to a nursing school that offer pre-reqs for the 1st semester. I'd suggest you take your pre-reqs at another school and then transfer it over when you apply for nursing. I graduated from an accelerated BSN program. I went to community/city colleges to take my pre-reqs (make sure those courses are equivalent to the credits at the nursing school) and then was able to transfer over with no problem. It really saves you some money :)

I can understand wanting the pre-reqs as part of the curriculum in a way... I would want to be sure I was accepted into a program before putting a lot of time, effort and money into pre-reqs that won't do anything for me outside of a nursing program.
Not that it isn't a good idea to take them, anyway, but if you are limited on funds and are using a loan or scholarship, you often have to be accepted into a program first.
Just my two cents. Good luck with whatever you decide!!
