About PA's comments to RN

Hello board members,

I had a PA working in my office show me this thread during our down time this morning, and I couldn't help but share a few comments. I attempted to post in the original forum, but apparently it was closed? I don't normally post on message boards, so I'm uncertain as to why it was closed? I'm an Orthopaedic Surgeon and have two PA's working in my office. The services they provide are paramount and critical in the success of our business. The are well educated, competent, and self reliant. Yes, of course I oversee their actions from time to time, but I think you all get the point.

To comment briefly on the orginal poster referencing the PA's rude comments: We will always see this in any field. Where can you go in life that you won't find the pompous, pretentious person with their skewed convictions of their own importance and self-righteousness? Answer is, nowhere. You will always find these individuals wherever you go. Unfortunately, my MD counterparts seemingly comprise the largest percentage of inflated egos. So, I wouldn't be quick to make blanket generalizations about PA's overstepping their boundaries constantly. To be blunt, I have met complete jerks who were MD's, PA's, NP's, RN's, you name it.

I value the work provided by PA's and NP's, and respect both professions equally. Also, RN's provide such a tremendous value to the medical field. They are the roots that ground our profession, and we will always need them. They should be paid commensurate of the function they provide, which is a large one. But please if you all get anything from this post, please realize you will always have jerks in each level of this profession, and don't let the few jerks define your view of the whole picture.

Also, I couldn't help but notice how often SuperEightMD comments on this nursing forum? Are you really a fellow MD? To be honest, I have neither the time or inclination to come on a nursing forum to debate and denigrate other board members. Your comments directed at PA's really show your bias as an MD. Do PA's function at the level physicians do? Obviously not.....But the MD's comments further prove my point of always having people in a certain profession that feel the need to bolster their already inflated ego's. How do you even find the time to post so much, don't you have have a job to perform?

Now, back to work for me! I would like to come on this board and post more often, but unfortunately due to our busy schedule between the clinic and surgery, that won't be realistic. Best of luck to all in your careers and endeavors!

absolutely I agree. I would never judge a profession as a whole by the poor behavior of one member of that group. I also agree that there is definitely a unique and valuable role for us all .
