About becoming a RN

Makeup? I think most facilities don't care what you wear as long as it looks professional. Some ban acrylic and long nails, others don't.

Personally, I don't wear much in the way of makeup to work because after 12 hours I would look like a raccoon with streaked peachy cheeks, and there's rarely time to go fuss and repair the damage.

At my hospital nurses wear perfume all the time, but it's probably not a good idea since some patients are senstive to it.

I would like to thank you for the information regarding the use of cosmetics during working hours as an RN. However, I steal don't have a clue where to attend school.:)

yet I want to help people regardless. I still need information regarding a nursing program in the OKC area, I need this information quickly as a divorce is on the horizon and I want to be able to help others but I don't have alot of time to get into the nursing field before I have to take care of myself and my son so can anyone please recommend a school that is good at teaching me what I need to know in the fastest possible way so I can provide for my son as well as help people in need. I didn't get a Sociolgy degree just to have one but to help people and I beleive nursing is the ultimate way to accomplish this. Thanks for your feedback though.

You have to decide what type of program you are looking for.

I'm still confused about the make-up question. Can you clarify?

I was recently in an outpatient clinic and noticed that most all of the nurses were not wearing makeup or was wearing very little, the reason for the question was 1. I have freckles that I don't like 2. I also have adult acne which doesn't look to good. So I was just wondering about the regulations on the use of makeup in the nursing field, I could understand them not wanting people to wear makeup because it could possibly contiminate the enviroment in one way or the other even though you wash your hands constantly; however, I didn't want to look like excuse the expression a "Pizza face" the makeup really make me change my mind about becoming a nurse just wanted facts. Now I really wish I wouldn't have mentioned it at all as that is all people seem to be focusing on and not the fact that I want to help people and become an RN. But thanks for hopefully letting me clear up the makeup issue you and all concerned.
