AAS or BSN?

Published

Hey whats up guys. Just subscribed to the site today and I'm very excited about meeting you all and learning as much as I can. My name is Darius Jackson, I'm 22, army veteran, I attend Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) and I currently have a 2.9gpa. Im in my second year and I plan on attending Clayton State University for their nursing program in Fall of 2016. The goal is to have at least a 3.4 when I apply. So my question is after I complete the 2 year nursing program at Clayton State will I have a Bachelors or Associates in nursing? The degree that I am getting at AMSC is Associates of Applied Science. Will that count towards my BSN or will I have get a ASN? Thanks for the replies.

I looked at the school, it appears to be a BSN program. That being said, I would definitely contact the school to make sure that you have all of the required pre-reqs completed prior to applying, as they can vary from school to school) From one veteran to another, welcome to AN and good luck!!!

Ok cool, Ill do that. Thanks bud!

First of all, Thankyou for your service, Darius. Ive done a little research and Clayton State University does offer a 2 year BSN program. Go to the school site (Clayton.edu) and There you can find the BSN program requirements and pre-reqs. Compare the University's BSN requirements with the courses you have and will have completed at AMSC, and that should give you some idea of what you will need moving forward. It's smart and VERY economical to take your pre-reqs at a CC, BUT MAKE SURE THEY WILL TRANSFER TO UNIVERSITY. Good luck to you!
