Hey just wondering how everyone did on there first nursing test of the year. My first test I only got a 76 and I use to getting way better grades like 90's but slot of people failed apparently. So I was just wondering how everyone else did. O and our skills testing for shots is next week we get tested on I'm. And subcut shots, catheters, and head to toe assessment. It got moved up a whole week and no one even told us no email or anything which really sucks. So to practice my subcut shots I just gave my self one in the stomach only 0.5 mL though no biggy. Only reason ii did it is because my husband said if I would he would let me do it to him WHICH HE DID NOT!!!! Anyways yell me about your test and skills and stuff. ;-)

93 (A)!!! Sooo happy to start off my semester in the right direction.

My first one was a 78. But then I wised up and stopped changing my answers and read and re-read all the questions to get a 92 on the next one.

Scary sticking needles for the first time isn't it? We practiced ID, SQ and IM injections on each other in the library at our hospital. But it made us feel confident enough to pass the test easily.

Funny thing about folies, our instructor told us to go home and practice on pillows. Not sure I recommend that because when it came time to actually do it on a 80y female, I found the pillows were a huge misrepresentation ;)

A pillow??? I probably won't do that but my teacher told us to practice sub cuts on a piece of chicken breast skin on and practice I M's on oranges...and like next month there gonna let us work a flu shot clinic after we pass our skills so I'm excited about that. I practiced my foley on my big large pooh bear and my head to toe lol but for the foley I would just explain it to him and practice the sterile technique up to were I would actually have to insert the cath and stop

Thats actually a great idea! Fill the syringes with mariade, practice your SQ's and grill some really juicy chicken breasts!

Your husband won't let you practice assessments on him? Nothing beats a living subject to practice with! Pooh bears dont have cap refill, PERRLA, GI sounds, etc. to get use to. Though I probably wouldn't ask him to practice a foley on :p

Well I practice them on him too but he always playing his xbox when I want tot then I start studying and fall out but we practice at school all the time with each me and the girls in my class. I use the bear to help me remember the steps and the same for the foley that's just to help me with the sterile techhique thing.
