Jul 18, 201510 yr Hi! I didn't see a thread for Spring of 2016 applicants, so I created one.My stats are 3.71 GPA (finishing up micro right now so that could change)Take the TEAS on August 8thNo preferencesI am pretty sure the TEAS test will make or break me.Good Luck to all!
Jul 23, 201510 yr Hi! I'm applying to TWU Dallas for spring 2016 as well. My stats are:GPA: 3.8Science GPA: 4.0TEAS: I will take it on August 22.No TWU preference.I'm so nervous for my TEAS, I heard it can make or break you as well. Are you applying anywhere else?
Jul 26, 201510 yr Hi! I'll be applying for Spring 2016 at the Dallas campus.GPA: 3.786TEAS: Taking Aug 1Previous BS degree. No TWU preferences.I am nervous for the TEAS just because you only get once chance! I was told by the admissions coordinator to shoot for an 87% to be in a pretty solid competitive range. I still have to take two histories and a government class to finish my pre-reqs (previous degree was from out of state) but I am going to attempt to CLEP out of at least one. I will also be taking BIOL 4344 (Pathophysiology) at the Dallas campus this fall. I was considering trying to get into the online section since I will also be working full time. Is anyone else taking patho this fall?I am only applying to TWU. Since my previous degree is from out of state some schools were not as giving with accepting previous courses. So fingers crossed but I am prepared to apply more than once before being accepted!
Jul 30, 201510 yr @dnw06 we are pretty much in the same boat! I moved here from California a few months ago & only have a history & a Texas government class to take (currently taking them at collin). Your stats are great! I'm only applying to TWU as well, every other school is either too far from Dallas, accept the HESI instead of the TEAS or their deadline already passed I'm so nervous about putting all of my eggs in one basket but I'm keeping faith! Good luck on your TEAS test in a few days, let us know how it went!!
Jul 30, 201510 yr Author I will be taking Patho this fall as well. However, I will be taking it at the Denton campus. A previous nursing student told me that the Dallas campus teacher is incredibly hard. Good luck to all!
Aug 4, 201510 yr I got an 88% overall on my TEAS. Reading: 97.6%Math: 86.7%Science: 81.3%English: 86.7%I was hoping to be in the 90's average but I am just so glad that it is over! I submitted my application and now I just have to wait. :)
Aug 4, 201510 yr Wow! That's an awesome score, congratulations! If you don't mind me asking, what all did you use to prepare for it? I'm studying the ATI study guide, but did you use any other resources? The long wait begins. Keep yourself busy!
Aug 4, 201510 yr Author Good job, dnw06! That's a score to be proud of! I am taking mine this Saturday. The Science portion really intimidates me; it seems incredibly broad and somewhat random. I have been using the ATI study guides and this post to help me: https://allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/how-i-passed-804222.html Hope that helps!
Aug 5, 201510 yr Thanks guys! I used the ATI study guide and the post that iwannabeanurse5 mentioned. That post is very accurate to the information that will be on the test and so is the study guide. I took the practice test then focused on what areas needed the most help. You can take the practice tests as many times as you want. I scored better on the actual test than the practice test and felt the actual test was actually easier. Make sure you practice using a timer section by section (the timer on the practice test just counts up for the entire practice test). I had plenty of time during the test except on the math section. Be very careful of the wording on the questions. There were quite a few that one or two words changed what the question was actually asking and the corresponding answer, as well as the correct answer were both options. Good luck! Ya'll will do great!
Aug 5, 201510 yr Columnist Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools and Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.
Aug 8, 201510 yr Hi, I'm applying to TWU Dallas for the first time, but this is my third time applying to a nursing program (I applied to Collin and got rejected twice). I figured, I might as well apply for BSN, hoping that my chances would be better despite the expensive tuition.GPA: 4.0TEAS V: 83.3 % (Reading 71%, Math 96%, Science 91%, English 73%)It's my first time taking the TEAS and I can't say I did my best to study...I wish I studied more ): I used the ATI review book and the McGraw book with 5 Practice Tests (Yes I took all of them..it was a pain). English isn't my first language so I think I'm already at a disadvantage. It's like taking the SATs again haha oh well. I'm just really horrible at english. I just took it today, so retaking it before the spring deadline is not possible. I wish I knew this sooner. I really was aiming for at least an 87, but I just couldn't do it. A score above 87 is usually the score I see in these threads, and they usually get accepted, that's why that was my goal.I wonder how they will compute my transcript, because some of the prereqs are from my IB/AP classes that I just got credited to TWU. Goodluck to everyone! I'm praying really hard I'll get in.
Aug 25, 201510 yr I had to reschedule mine so I'm taking it today at 1:30pm! I'm so nervous but I'm trying to stay calm & just trust that I know the material & I'll be fine.. Wish me luck guys!
