If I am an EMT B work as a tech in a hospital. I do blood work and EKGs think I can apply for a PCT position at a hospital or would I have to go back to school for more training.?

pct are hospital trained. you have an excellent shot at getting hired with the experience you have too! I have been one for 8 years.

Agreed with shana - 95% of my tasks were on the job training. EMTs are always welcome and encouraged to apply in my hospitals; they are especially needed in Trauma I facilities. If you REALLY want to, taking a a phleb class (time and money permitting) wouldn't hurt but I was trained on my facility's equipment.

Hi, didn't want to start a new thread again on the same topic. Did some more research about the job marker with PCA/EMT. Pretty much every hospital/nursing facility requires you to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. Most CNA programs are 8-4 Monday-Friday complete in three weeks. Reason looking into them is hoping to find a night job as a CNA while I go back to school for nursing. As I said I work as a Tech on a psych floor, but our shifts are only 7-3 and 3-11. After that 2 nurses and a PCA work during the night.

Only way be able to do one of these programs is if I quit my job or take a 2 week vacation. I can look into other jobs like security at night or hold out hope a night psych position opens up.

Trying to weigh my options.
