Hello, I just got my Masters of Education in December, and was hired as a teacher for a local high school. I teach 10th graders 6 hours one day, and 12th grade CNA students 6 hours the next. I would love to connect with other CNA instructors to get ideas. I find one of the biggest challenges is finding lesson plan ideas and worksheets specific to high school nursing students.There are two things that would really help me with this new job.

1) I would love to find a message board specific to teaching CNA, which is so highly regulated by the state.

2) I would love to know what websites might have some great information that would be specific to CNA, and pre nursing studies.

I also teach at the high school level. My classes are called Health Science. I teach 10 & 11th graders..I'm basically prepping them for their senior level to receive their CNA (we have a 2nd teacher for that). My state dept of education & career/technical education dept are a huge help with our program. Are you familiar with HOSA? My state HOSA chapter has great resources i.e., lesson plans, etc that we can share with one another. Connecting with other teachers in my state by going to the state's seminars has helped me along the way.

I just accepted a position as Health Science Instructor also. I took it in high school and loved it. I've been working clinic and school nursing since 1999. I am super excited. SirDearis99, do you have any other websites/information. It is only the second year for the school to have the program, I think I may be starting from scratch.

Oh wow, I also took this class in high school. I use my state hosa website. I'm in SC. Check with your state hosa chapter if anything like mine you will be able to find different ideas & lesson plans. Also the national HOSA page may be of some help also.

I've been teaching high school CNA classes for about a year and a half. I love those kids! They are so much fun. These are 4 credit classes that they take through our professional-technical education program. Most of them are wanting to on to earn their RN and having a CNA is often a prerequisite.

I also teach college non credit CNA classes and both classes are taught basically the same, except I have more projects for my high school classes. They are now also required to join HOSA in our state.

I was just promoted full time to CNA director (my bosses job) as she went to the PN program. I won't get to teach the high schoolers anymore, and I'm sad over that. But on to newer responsibilities. :) Good luck to you in your role! You'll have a great time!

thanks for the responses. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I didn't see them until now! I will check into HOSA, but we do not use it. We are involved with Skills USA. Does anyone have any other great resources to share? I love kahootz, and quizzlet. I am also a huge fan of MAX teaching strategies. I just started with schoology, and would love to share resources there if anyone else is on. Thanks, Sharon
