Well I get so many private messages I've decided to update on my thoughts of the classes at the end of each term. I started term 1 as a full time student but do to family and financial reasons (I needed to continue working full time for a bit longer), I dropped down to part time in term 2.

Term 1 classes included Advanced Patho, Nursing Research and Health Promotions.

- Passed with a B, A and A respectfully.

Term 2 classes I took Scholarly Inquiry I (SI1), and Advanced Pharm 1

- So far I've got an A in SI1 (which is another research class), and a B in Pharm (this class is uber hard!)

- When you pick your SI1 class take note that you will be in the SAME class, SAME time, SAME day of the week for term 3 for Scholarly Inq. 2. I did not know this at first. It's a continuation of putting together a research study of your own with hopes of being published!

The course load hasn't been too bad. A lot of writing (small papers), a lot of research and reading articles for SI1 for just a 2 credit hour course in my opinion.

Pharm is tough as your whole grade is comprised of the 3 exams given throughout the term (all proctored via webcam with your instructor) but the material is very interesting. It's A LOT of reading!!!

Next week I get to register for term 3 classes...woo hoo...almost 30% done with my program! I'll be taking Advanced Pharm 2, Scholarly Inq 2 and Family Health and Disease.

Not much else to really add to this, I feel like I've gotten the ropes down and am moving right along. On a side note, even though Simmons will place me for clinical I specifically wanted to do a rotation at the VA (Veterans Affairs) hospital. I found out that the school did not have an agreement with the North FL/S. GA VA health system. I made a few phone calls and viola, found the affiliation representative. I just got a confirmation email that the VA here in this region is willing to sign an agreement not only to allow me to do a rotation there but also f for ANY Simmons BSN, MSN/FNP, DNP students that would like to do so! WOO HOO! Will take a few months to get the paperwork done but will be good to go in time for me to start clinicals!

I am still waiting to hear from Georgetown but it might take a while because I am waiting for a degree conferral letter from my RN-BSN program. I graduate with my BSN in December and applied for the January cohort at GU.

I have actually been looking into Simmons as well. I've never heard of the school since I am from California but I have heard good things. Is it true that Simmons can use all of my info from GU?

USCG2RN, yes Simmons can pull all info from GU after you get a decision from GU.

I am currently enrolled in Simmons part time. I am starting the 2nd session of classes. I am taking Advanced Pharm I, Scholarly Inquiry I, and Health Promotion. Do you have any tips for studying for advanced pharm? I am really nervous about this course being that we only have 3 tests that our entire grade is based off of. Any help would be appreciated!

And I am finishing Simmons' program next month!

I am glad I chose a school that helps with clinical sites-overall this has been a great experience for me. Simmons definitely has a good mix of self paced studying as well as live classroom assignments, papers, tests etc. I am glad that i had live, interactive classes compared to some of the all online, blackboard based programs in my area (who also have B&M schools but all of the MSNs are online).

I have received great feedback from all of my preceptors stating that I am fully prepared for clinical and the real world.

And no! You really cannot work full time and do school full time once you start clinicals :):):)
