I just took my Nclex earlier this afternoon and I tried the PVtrick and got the good pop up. I'm still waiting for my result to be officially posted in CTS..

I have been asking for advices and reading some threads in the discussion forums about how others made it through their nclex exam and I've learned a lot from it. So, I wanted to be fair and help others who are preparing for their exams as well. So here it is...

I attended a 12 day review class here in Chicago. I badly needed it since I graduated my BSN last 2008. Everyday after my review, I went to the library to go over the discussion earlier. Then at home, I answer the practice quiz (10 items) in Saunders Comprehensive Review 4e. I never tried the 100 items test since I want to read the ratioanale immediately. I focused on INFECTION CONTROL, CARDIO especially the EKG'S and the appropriate MEDS for each conditon and ENDOCRINE.

I also read the KAPLAN RN STRATEGIES book from page to page. AnsWered the practice questions at the end of each chapter and the practice test at the end of the book and got 70%. I also answered the practice questions in the cd included in the book and my average score was 65%. Kaplan was really my life saver. Surprisingly, I got some questions that are from the book exactly in my nclex exam.

LASTLY and most importantly, PRAYERS... I DID THE 9 DAY NOVENA FOR ST JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO AND STO NINO DE CEBU. I GUESS, THAT WAS THE BIGGEST HELP I GOT..

The questions that were in my tests were...

20+ SATA

10+ DRAG AND DROP

6-7 EKG'S AND THEIR MEDS and Nsg Intervention

INFECTION CONTROL (anthrax, syphilis, herpes)

Side Effects and Adverse Effects of Meds (i dont even know most of them)

Hi, I'm a batch 2008 and I plan to take nclex rn this may. Just want to know how did you prepare for the exam? Like how many months did you study and how many hours per day? Thanks and congrats. :)

I didn't have a study schedule or something like that since I have a 7 month old baby. But I should give credit to my review class. It gave me general knowledge of everything though it was fast paced. I made sure that after the class, I should spend 3-4 hours in the library to read because I cant concentrate much at home.

After my review class, I had 3 weeks to self review. My nclex was scheduled at 2pm, so everyday, I made sure that by 2pm, I'm answering the practice tests so my brain and body would get used to it. Everyday, I have a total of 4-6 hours to study, with a lot of breaks in between. Even when I'm feeding my baby, I have a review material in my hand. Im in the library 2-3x/week for 5-6 hours.

hi how are you?i failed couple of times can you just tell me which 12 days review you used for nclex rn.I need your help.i cant spend time woth my son he is 5 year old.so plz can u advice what should do?

i also failed my first nclex exam last 2010. My first baby was still a year old but I did'nt have someone to help me take care of him thats why I was struggling.

i had a classroom review class here in chicago. The instructors were really good especially the one who handled medsurg. I understood a lot from her than the 2 years of MedSurg in the nursing curriculum. They also have hand outs and review materials. Those were the only thing I read several times before my exam because it was already outlined. I used saunders for Neuro and Cardio because that's my weak part.

I tried to balance everything esp my time with my baby and studies. I tried to value my time. Thinking that a 20 mins of wasted time would drag me to failure. I even posted labvalues, ekg, endo in the wall so I could see it everyday. I have review index cards in the car. I just made sure that if I am making my time productive.

I admire all those that have kids & study & pass the NCLEX. Like wow. I could not imagine trying to study for this beast of an exam & trying to take care of a child. More power to all of you.
