OIIQ in quebec

Hi Friends,

I would like to migrate to quebec with my family. I have not learned french yet. can you please advise me, does french essential to live and work in quebec?

How long it would take to learn french?

I came to know that OIIQ program is necessary to get a job in quebec.Does it hold the same right of a CRNE.

Do we need to wright OIIQ in french?

you can write the exam in English but you will be expected within a certain length of time prove ability to communicate efficiently in French

This is on their website

The Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) Web site was designed in French, as all nurses practising in Quebec, like all members of any other professional order, must have good command of the French language. The information it provides is intended for its members and the general population of the province. However, the OIIQ has made parts of its Web site available in English, among other things to enable nurses outside Quebec and Canada who wish to know more about practising in Quebec to obtain relevant information.

Just a question based on an idea. If you were in a situation where you had failed the CRNE had no chance in Canada ,,, THEN would you think it was worth giving Quebec a try to start your Nursing Career if you were willing to study French hardcore ,,, by which I mean hiring a tutor to seriously learn the language. Bit I also am seriously concerned about the comment about licensed staff being seriously underpaid!!

I welcome all thoughts please share

Cheers

While I am not informed on the format and difficulty of the CRNE exam, I can tell you that the licensing exam for the OIIQ is pretty difficult. Half of it comprises of a written test, all of it is short answer, no multiple choice. The second part of it is a practical exam, where you see given situations, with actors, and gave to respond directly to the problems. There is someone in the room who sits, looks at you, and grades your performance.

If you weren't able to pass the CRNE (you don't mention why) I have a hard time thinking you might pass the rest with OIIQ.
