History of felony, looking for a job/ advice

I am a new grad nurse, 8 years ago ( I was a teenager) I was arrested with charges of petit larceny theft, I had to write a letter to the nursing board explaining the incident, they issue my Licence.I am applying for jobs and I know how hard it is to find a job nowadays specially being a new grad, I have been interviewed for jobs and had received a couple of offers that I did not take for different reasons. I have accepted one job and I have done my physical exam, they are waiting for my drug test results and I think they are also waiting for my background check, I am very nervous and afraid that once they see that on the report they would not hire me. Has anybody been through this type of situation or have heard anything of what employers do? Do you think they will hire somebody with a history of an arrest? Please advice me what can I do ?

It depends on what you stole and the value. Did you disclose this? If not, then I don't believe they will hire you if they have to find out through a check. I do think you should have accepted another prior offer though if they did know about your past. At least this way you would have a job an not sit worrying. Good luck! If you revealed it and they knew when they asked you to work for them it should be fine. If you didn't tell them and they find out, I don't think it will work in your favor. :-/

In my application they asked me if I was ever convicted with a felony, (my case was a misdemenor ) my answer was NO.I was checking online and there is a difference between a misdemenor and Felony. I hope they are right ( Internet)

It was a chocolate ($7.00)

It was a chocolate ($7.00)

I don't think they will say no LOL

As long as you answered the question they asked truthfully, you should be fine from that end of things. Especially with misdemeanors, you have time on your side as well. One arrest/conviction for a relatively minor crime and you have no subsequent history is certainly something that I would consider as a mitigating factor. If they're asking only about felonies, and you have none, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if asked about it during an interview, be 100% honest about it. To do otherwise, might make your interviewer nervous that you're hiding something, and that can make a huge difference whether or not you're hired.

I'm confused...so it was a misdemeanor and not a felony after all?
