Interventions for child with appendectomy

Anyone have any creative or theraputic interventions for a child postop with an appendectomy? I hate to give the child all of the interventions that I would use for an adult . Plus we are encouraged to orientate this towards the school age child. I am going blank here. The best I can come up with the to watch the balls in the spirometer !

suggest you go to some websites and look at the milestone developments for the age of the child involved to help you out here. also, consider where the child is on erickson's developmental stage. in the pediatric weblinks on this thread: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/medical-disease-information-258109.html - medical disease information/treatment/procedures/test reference websites you will find several sites that have the developmental milestones and some may have information about the hospitalized child as well.
