Hi I am a Freshman in college right now and I attend Sacramento State. I really want to be a Regestered Nurse badly. It has been a goal of mine for a very long time. I am frustrated because every semester it seems that it is getting harder and harder to get in. Right now the average GPA of people who get accepted is around a 3.9 and the average TEAS score is very high as well. I am a good student and try my hardest in everything but I just don't know if I will be able to do that well. I havent taken Chemistry yet but I don't feel like I will be able to get an A in it. Any adivce or anything to cheer me up. Thanks a lot.

Do your pre-reqs with GE courses--that will lessen the load for you. If you're not in a rush...take the science pre-reqs one or two at a time depending if you feel capable of doing it. Just get A's in your pre-reqs and do well in your teas test. Don't worry everyone shares this feeling of it becoming harder and harder to get into nursing school as time moves forward, but that's the reality of it.

If you think you are unable to get the grades you want, I suggest you take some of those harder pre-reqs at community colleges. I have friends who have taken science classes at both Sac State and Sac City and they say that classes at Sac City are easier because of the small class sizes and the great professors. I personally did Chem, both A&P's and Micro at SCC and I got A's in all of them. You'll still have lots of competition even with great grades, but I think that taking some classes at one of the Los Rios colleges can help you out a lot.

Thanks for the advice guys. I do plan on taking some courses at community colleges I have already taken 5 GE classes there while I was still in High school and it was very hard. How hard would you guys say chemistry was. That is my worst nightmare even though I did well in it in High School I know it is going to be much worse in college.

I didn't take Chem in HS, but I took Chem 305 (Chem2A) my first summer out of high school, and it was HARD. I didn't have a job or any other classes, and I focused only in this class. I think that because you took Chem in hs, you won't have such a hard time. It was mostly equations so if you are good at math, you'll have this class 75% figured out.
