Hello

Thanks to those of you who replied to my post about financial aid. I prayed last night that I would be able to get some extra aid and spoke with my financial aid officer today.

I was told that I am recieving the maximun amount of loans for subsidized and unsubsidized as possible for each semester. I make too much money to qualify for a pell grant~WHATEVER. Although since I will only be working part time this upcomming semester, I can re-apply for the pell grant after 10 weeks of my change of status at work. Please pray for me, that I will be eligible in November.

The good news is that after I told the financial aid officer that I pretty much had a choice to buy my books, or pay my car payment he was able to put a $1,000 scholarship onto my account just like that. The scholarship will be split between the fall and spring semester, so I will be getting $500 when the semester starts to help pay for my books. This is definately a blessing. I'm single with no children, so getting any help at all is almost impossible. I am completely supporting myself on what little money I make and can't get any state assistance because my car is a 2000 and once again, aparrently the federal aid gods think that I make too much money. Maybe I should tell them to try and live on what I make? Sorry getting off subject.

Anyways thanks for the support and please remember to keep me in your prayers for when I re-apply for the pell grant in November.

Grreat news about the $1,000 dollar scholarship:D!!! You hang in there, and don't give up!!! Keep searching for scholarships, and keep on praying! Don't ever give up your dream!!! Congratulations on the scholarship!!!!! That is definitely a blessing....because books are very exspensive. I hope that everythings works out for you in November.

Jen, Good for you, that's great. I have the same problem, some one out there thinks I made too much money last year, and now that I'm not working....well, you know how it goes.

Jenn!!!!!! You're a life saver! I just re read part of your post, the part about being able to reapply for aid. I called my office and they said, since I quit work in May, I can reapply with what I'm making now, I guess it's called special circumstance. Now, hopefully I can get some grants! I wouldn't have known if you didn't post, so thank you!

Awe, thanks a bunch. Also, thanks for the links Brownie, I haven't tried the discover nursing link yet. This all just makes me want to try harder in school, because I'm not about to fail after all the sacrifices I have made.

Your welcome. Yeah special circumstances, thats what it's called. I'm glad that you will also be able to re-apply. Doesn't it make you sick how you have to fight for every little thing? It's also funny how there is so much out there that no one knows about or no one is willing to tell you until you break down in tears in front of them. Thats what i did today in the FA office, during the sobs I think the FA officer felt so sorry for me that he put the $1,000 scholarship on my account and then he said, "Wait a minute, maybe you can re-apply in 10 weeks." It gives me a little hope. I hope it also works out for you. Let me know how it goes. Good luck to you also.
